Yesterday I posted something saying “The industry is nothing without these four legendaries” and I mentioned established Artistes that includes DJ AB, CLASSIQ, MORELL & KHEENGZ, so I thought of justifying myself even though I don’t want to so but if I don’t, many people might think I’m being bias and also have negative thoughts about me although it won’t affect me in anyways but it will be much better to publicise this content for better understanding.
what I posted just of recent has nothing to do with BOC MADAKI and I’ve no grudges against him that I’ll try to look down on him this way. I said “The industry is nothing without these four legendaries” what does that really mean? I meant if not for these established versatiles, Arewa music industry wouldn’t have been to this level.
If you’re against what I posted recently then this question is for you, be honest with yourself which year did the stage name BOC MADAKI came into existence and which year he made a name for himself? when did Arewa people fully accept hausa hip hop songs and those acts making it the way they accepts other top trending Nigerian Artistes and their songs is it not 2015?
These four major Artistes I mentioned which are DJ AB, CLASSIQ, MORELL & KHEENGZ extremely played a roll in putting AREWA ON THE MAP even though they’ve been making music since before 2015 but fortunately till 2015 people starts to recognize their craft and since then they stop at nothing but pushing hard by dropping hit songs like WABAB by YNS TEAM.
The song WABAB was released in 2013 but only few people listen to hausa hip hop and also only few Artistes like the ones I mentioned were their and and continue to make it real. when AREWA24 was found in 2014 and they introduced the program “TOP 10” which Nomiisgee been the presenter upon till now.
At that time when the program started, WABAB animation video was also shown and not just once but severally, so basically that program also helps in Promoting that song because there was lack of means of Promotion as the easiest means of Promotion and fast Downloading means of Promotion like blogs were scarce in northern part of Nigeria.
“WABAB’s” one of the songs that started to have impact on people after the acceptance of Hausa hip hop and in particular “BABARSA is the song that uplifts DJ AB’s name of then there are other Artistes trying and pushing hard but that didn’t not clear DJ AB’s name because the song was a hit and it became the talk of the town after a massive acceptance moreover no any other song and Artiste trends like DJ AB and the song BABARSA by DJ AB in 2015.
On the other hand, Morell been also in the industry and been making good songs as far as I know since around 2012 and he had collaborations which includes Nigerian top notch Artiste, Olamide and also too he independently made a name for himself. “Ganga da Garaya by Morell was released on 11/09/2013 later been fully noticed in 2015 from then he started initiating creativity and start to evolve by introducing different kind of songs that people could play during weeding ceremonies and songs that motivate and also that could bring peace and unity.
Along the way ClassiQ heavily jumped into the game where he made his name independently after the release of top hit songs like KING KONG which he got featured by vector the viper in 2015, Hau Pa in 2015, duniya featuring Ruby gyang in 2016, Anfara in 2016 and many more.
Kheengz aka YFK has become one of the self acclaimed rappers in North who is knows for his hit releases which includes Kai, Alhamdulillah featuring Ice Prince, I’m North and many more produced hits. I’M NORTH received lots of praises after its dropping in addition, kheengz become one of the unstoppable, exceptional and uncomparable act as the song reached out audience beyond imagination with lots of positive comments from different places in Northern Nigeria.
Looking how things are now going in Arewa industry, we can say there’s a lot more achievement compare to those years because at those days it’s hard to find a good and standard Video from an upcoming Artiste, but as time goes on everything begins to change for good and for the better. Now we can see how upcoming Artistes are producing standard songs, likewise dropping highly standard videos unlike the previous past years.
